Kanchan:
"I really enjoyed Holli's Smart Phone Photography class. She has a great way of presenting information in a way that is digestible by people at all levels. Many tricks and tips she taught us still pop into my mind as I venture to take quality photos for my business and for fun. I highly recommend her class!"
Suzanne:
"What a great class! I wanted my team to gain some knowledge about how to take better "after" pictures of our work. Holli educated us ALL on how to better use our smartphones to step up our photo game. She not only provided us the basics of our phones but also a bit of 'photography 101' teaching us a bit more about composition, lighting and perspective. I can't wait to see our next round of project 'after' pics!"
Amanda:
"Holli is wonderful to work with! I took her smart phone photography for business classes and it was AMAZING. The way she formats her classes makes it easy to understand, and get the basics down for the business marketing DIY-ers out there."
How i started teaching
I love photography so much that with SmartPhones, naturally, I enjoyed photographing with them too. While I was in a business networking group, I started to share tips with my fellow small business owners. No matter if they had an iPhone or an Android based SmartPhone, I could teach them how to level up their skills to get better results.
Then, I taught a few small groups. That led to teaching through the local South Seattle College through their Continuing Education program! You could say it happened naturally in my community with one thing leading to another.
After the Pandemic paused all in-person classes, I tested out teaching through Zoom rooms, and found that it wasn't as effective as in-person. With in-person classes, we can move through the lessons more quickly and students can ask questions more freely. Once I moved into my studio, I found myself able to enthusiastically get back to teaching on a need basis. Meaning, I didn't advertise to teach for smaller groups, they found me for custom group classes.
Now, I'm ready to host small groups in my studio with an effort to encourage people to enjoy the camera in their phone and savor life through focusing on what they can do to document their lives and hobbies.

Custom Classes
I learned photography on an old 35mm film camera, and then expanded my skills to digital photography in 2006. As a result, I can easily navigate between them and expanded my class offerings to include film, digital and SmartPhone Photography classes as a custom option. This has looked like: teaching a young teenager how to use their new-to-them DSLR Camera, or a Small Business owner, how to get better results with their camera for product photography, or a couple celebrating their Anniversary with a class so they could enjoy learning together!
Small Group Classes
Ever since the Pandemic eased up and folks started to gather again, I've created a half dozen small group classes for both small businesses and groups wanting to add some adventure! I've held classes in the local park, at their place of business and in my studio.
I'm now excited to offer a rotation of small group classes in the studio as a more routine part of the year! These classes will be limited to 8 students so we will be able to cover a solid foundation and answer questions as they arise. I'll be opening class registration up to my Newsletter subscribers first, then sharing more publicly through social platforms. And, I plan to partner with other professionals to create specialized classes with them too. The best way to stay up to date on those is to subscribe to my newsletter here.
