Art and Nature Inspired
Last year I was walking through the Seattle Asian Art Museum, and was mesmerized by the artwork of Anila Quayyum Agha. She created work that you can truly experience with light and shadows and shapes that fill rooms. I left thinking about how it would look to play with shape and shadows and colors in personal art portraits.
Ferns were my first idea, and naturally the color green. As soon as I started thinking about this, a past headshot client came to mind, because their therapy practice is called Fiddlehead Therapy! Since this would be my first time doing this style of a portrait, I asked if they would be interested with this kind of portrait experience too. Thankfully, they agreed!
While I usually like to have a clearly defined photo list for my clients, this time it was more of an art experiment, and I'm so grateful Laurie was willing to participate. It went slowly as I played with the shadow of the ferns first, then added a bright green gel to my lighting. Next, I added another darker shade of green gel. The results were so vibrant, and bonus was Laurie's purple hair adding a layer of fun!
I have decided to call this an Art Portrait play experience. If you want something experimental like this, please reach out. I love experimenting with art and portraits!
